Today, Charger baseball announces a member of its incoming class of freshman for 2014-15, Cade Douglas. The RHP currently attends Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Ga.
"Georgia Highlands is a great fit for me because it will give me an opportunity to pitch a lot as a freshman and be seen by bigger 4 year colleges. As well as stay close to home so that my family and friends will get the chance to watch me play. It will also help me get my core classes finished quickly. I already have good relationships with some of the returners as well as some of the new players, which is also a huge benefit."
As a junior at Hillgrove High School he had the second lowest ERA on the team with a 1.6 ERA. He also had the most appearances as a pitcher, pitching in more than half the games. He was 2-0 as a relieving pitcher with 3 saves. He currently has the lowest ERA on his team with a .60 ERA.
"Cade is a hard-nosed competitor that has really developed over the course of the past two high school seasons.," said Chargers head coach, Mike Marra. "We think that he will continue to get better and better each time he gets on the mound. Cade is expected to come in and compete right away for a spot in our end of game rotation."
Cade plans to study Business Management at GHC and said his career goals include developing leadership skills and becoming a business manager/owner some day. Outside of baseball, he has volunteered multiple hours at his church. His hobbies and interests include spending time with his family, playing a lot of basketball, watching tv, hanging out with good friends, and going to all sporting events.
